Application
-
What is a Primary Tiger Owner or Leader?
A Primary Tiger Leader is any LSU graduate who meets one or more of the following criteria:
- LSU founded and led means that a graduate of LSU founded the company and is still employed at the most senior level of management (C-Suite) if not serving as CEO, President or Managing Partner.
- LSU owned means a graduate of LSU or a group of graduates from LSU must have owned 50% or more of the company for the time frame being measure.
- LSU led means a graduate of LSU serving in a C-Suite, President or Managing Partner position.
-
How are the company growth results calculated? How is the LSU100 list determined?
For each applicant, EisnerAmper (official accounting firm) will calculate the company’s compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) in revenue for the time frame being measured. After compiling the calculations, the companies will be listed by percentage of growth rate from the highest to the lowest. The 100 fastest growing companies will be named to the LSU100. To read more about “Compounded Annual Growth Rate”, click here.
Growth Calculation Example: A company that has the following:
Year 1 of 3 years being considered = $1000 in revenue
Year 2 of 3 years being considered = $2000 in revenue
Year 3 of 3 years being considered = $1900 in revenue
would have a compounded annual growth rate of 37.84%
How to Calculate CAGR:
Subtract one from the subsequent result.
Divide the revenue at the end of the 3 year period being considered by its value at the beginning of that 3 year period. For the example above that is $1900/$1000.
Raise the result to an exponent of one divided by the number of years. The number of years used in LSU100 calculations will always be 2. In our example above we are calculating growth from the END of Year 1 of the 3 year period through the end of Year 3 of the 3 year period.
-
How is the LSU ROARING20 list determined?
The companies that comprise the LSU ROARING20 will be the twenty highest revenue generating companies from all of the companies that apply for the LSU100 that year.
The LSU100 are the top 100 companies ranked based on growth.
-
What is “revenue”?
The LSU100 official accounting firm bases growth calculations on net business revenue for a set time frame each year. Net revenue is meant to be net sales or sales minus returns. For a professional services business it would be gross revenues minus any write-downs, expenses or discounts.
Neither W2 or Statutory Employee income/pay may be submitted as part of business revenues.
-
Should the company list all of the Primary Tiger Owners or Leaders?
If a company is owned by more than one LSU graduate each of those owners should be listed. In all other Tiger-led situations the most senior leader that meets the Primary Tiger Leader requirements should be the only one listed and this person will be the individual announced as the Tiger leader for the company during the LSU100 gala.
-
What qualifies as most senior leadership?
Most senior leadership consists of the highest ranked positions within the company’s organizational structure (for example: chief officers, owner, founder, president, managing partner, etc.).
-
Do I need to list all of my degrees from LSU?
Yes, for the primary Tiger leader/owner please list all degrees completed at LSU.
